What are the reasons to go on strike?

These are turbulent days within St. Thomas University, that because five careers are now unemployed and there is speculation that this week could subscribe more.

The reasons for this internal mobilization are several, but mainly the student’s claim lies in the little room, and overcrowding in the university. Remember that starting this year absorb new careers, resulting in an increase in the student population. Unfortunately this increase has only been in people and infrastructure as well, causing a state of "overcrowding". This has been compounded in recent days with the addition of students from the Universidad del mar to careers in nursing, nutrition, among others.

As with any type of mobilization are detractors and supporters, always causing a polarization even among those directly affected. All this creates a climate of uncertainty that even led to close the university on Thursday 11 April, for fear of the authorities to the possible consequences of the student demonstration.

We hope this conflict will be resolved in the best way, and are able to improve the conditions of study, students not only unemployed, but of the entire universe of students from the UST.
